Heron in Slough

This is a small (30" x 36") backsplash that I just finished.  You can see a line at the top where it will be trimmed off to fit under the hood, leaving a 1/2" blue border all around.  This is one of my catalogue images, but on made much larger than is pictures there.

Soldner Tile

I just got back from teaching a workshop at a fabulous place, Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, Colorado.  It was originally supposed to be a two-person workshop with Kurt Weiser, but he got sick.  Luckily, Julia Galloway, a very well respected potter (and professor at my alma mater, the University of Montana) was enrolled in the class as a student.  She stepped in as a second teacher and did a fantastic job.  I'm in awe of her as a teacher.  As part of the class, I painted this 10" x 8" tile portrait of Paul Soldner, the very famous clay artist who was instrumental in starting Anderson Ranch.  The students were an amazing group and all in all, it was a fantastic experience.  I hope I get to go back some day.  And Ruth came and joined me after the workshop for about 5 days of hiking, sight-seeing and relaxing to celebrate our 47th anniversary.

Japanese woodblock

This two-panel kitchen backsplash just went home today.  It's based on the woodblock prints of Ando Hiroshige.

Salmon Dinner

This picture was recently sent to me by a client.  They got this little mural installed in their kitchen backsplash, after ordering it at the Seattle Home Show.  It's one of the images from the Catalogue section of my web site.

Beach Hearth

This just got installed last week.  These folks had an ugly concrete slab hearth that was chipped on the edges and stained on the top.  So we covered the top and all three edges with tile.  It's very subtle and depicts a beach, with ripple marks in sand, and a couple of lines of sea foam, and a crab, a shell , and a starfish.

Cows and Tree

This is a set of tiles that went to a client in California, depicting the kind of trees that have on their property, and some of their cows.

Stillaguamish River

Here's a piece that just went home.  It will go on a bathroom vanity backsplash, around a mirror.  It's a scene of the Stillaguamish River, for a cabin on that river.  It commemorates the client's father, who built the cabin and fished for steelhead there.  It includes his rods, creel, boots and tackle box.  Ignore the big purple spot in the upper left.  That's just glare.

Misty Forest

This just came from a client.  They really liked a painting on my art web site, so we adapted it to fit their backsplash and added some birds and animals.

A short time at home

We just got back from Arizona, where I did a workshop and we went to some Mariners spring training games.  Now I'm home for a few days before I head off to Pittsburg for the annual NCECA conference.
